Club Racing
![]() | Club Racing SeriesEvery year the club runs a number of racing series that members can enter: The Pursuit Series runs on Sunday mornings from March until October, with staggered starts to allow the slower boats to start first. At the end of 90 minutes, the boats’ positions on the water represent their places. The Spring & Summer Handicap Series follow on these Sunday afternoons and consist of two 60 minute races with a single start and final positions adjusted by each boat’s Portsmouth Yardstick handicap to give corrected finish times. Each club member is expected to sign for at least three duties during the season. The Wednesday Series consists of around 16 handicap races starting at 19:30 on Wednesday evenings from May to early September. All club members sailing during the Wednesday series must sign for at least one duty. The Frostbite Series consists of around 12 handicap races, 2 races per day, with starts at 12:00 and 14:00. All club members sailing during the Frostbite series must sign for at least one duty. Winter Sailing: if sufficient members and visiting helms demand it, the Club runs a short series of handicap races on Sundays in the early New Year. Participating helms are expected to roster duties between themselves for this series. |
Club Racing EventsThroughout the season, the club also runs a number of individual events, where members and visiting helms can compete for trophies and prizes. These include a number of races specifically for novices and juniors, and trophies for fleet and endurance racing. | ![]() |
